H3 Treated Pine Timber
Pine timber crafted to H3 specifications receives the minimal amount of treatment necessary to help the wood ward off moderate levels of moisture and insect infiltrations. This type of timber works well in above ground applications only. Placing H3 treated timber on or in the ground could subject it to conditions that will cause degradation.
H3 pine timber is perfect for verandas, cladding, and other above ground purposes.
H4 Treated Pine Timber
Pine timber with an H4 level of treatment has the ability to withstand a wider variety of environmental conditions than H3 treated lumber. In many, but not all, areas, you can safely use H4 lumber for fence posts or other purposes in which the wood will be permanently placed underground.
Those living in more humid climates should consider a higher level of treatment, however.
